GALILEE ATHLETICS
The Galilee Fun/Fitness Ministry is growing more and more each day. We have grown by leaps and bounds in our first 3 years of existence. Our program will be adding some new dimensions this year. Galilee will be identified as the GALILEE CRUSADERS in 2011. Galilee will also establish its very own colors this year. The colors will be purple and white. Cheerleading will begin its journey in the program as well. Our ministry has been thoroughly blessed thus far and we will continue to pray the Lord's blessing upon us.
10/13/11 - Team Unity Galilee will begin official practice on November 2, 2011 @ The ACC YOUTH CENTER. 6:30pm will be the start time.
10/25/11 @ 12:30 am - Galilee Athletics is ready to begin its 3rd season of existence. We are poised and ready to have another great season. Purple and White will become the official colors of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church Athletics. This year we will be adding cheerleading to our program. Mrs. Kelly Terrell will be leading the cheer program, which will be looking for the services of young ladies 8 to 16. Cheerleading tryouts will begin on 11/2/11 @ 6:30pm @ Galilee Baptist Church. The equipment list for the boys this year includes: Eastbay Performance Short, Sleeveless Top, Long Sleeve Top, Short Sleeve Top (Purple/White), Performance Socks, Under Armour Micro G Supersonic Shoe (Gray/White), Eastbay Moisture Management Jacket (Purple/White). Player fees are $150.00. 2 payments of $75.00 will be due on 11/16/11 and 11/30/11.
11/1/11 @ 10:32pm - A change in days has been made for the start of cheerleading workouts. Workouts will begin this Thursday @ 6:30pm @ Galilee Missionary Baptist Church. All staff will be in attendance for the beginning of training. Please be prompt. Basketball practice will begin on tomorrow @ 6:30pm @ The ACC YOUTH CENTER, located at 7 mile and John R @ Derby. We will be taking care of registration and fundraising responsibilities at this practice as well. All participants this year will need a physical examination on file to participate. A copy of your birth certificate will be needed for registration. See you tomorrow!!!!
11/15/11 @ 10:20pm - Practice will be tomorrow @ 6:30pm @ The ACC Youth Center. The I.C.A.A will be presenting an Opening Ceremony to showcase all of the churches and their programs. The event will take place on Saturday, December 3, 2011 between the hours of 2pm -5pm. The Earnest T. Ford Recreation Center will be the location. The address is 10 Pitkin Highland Park, MI 48288. All churches in the league will be showcasing their basketball teams, cheerleaders, coaches and pastors. We will have a RED CARPET type entrance for the programs. The cheerleaders from each church will present a WELCOME cheer as a part of the ceremony. We will have skill competitions for Seniors (16-18), Juniors (13-15), Pee Wees (10-12) and Mites (9 and Under). Stay tuned for further details!
12/2/11 @ 11:50am - Tomorrow is our first official big day for the I.C.A.A. church season. We need everybody to meet @ 1:15pm at the gymnasium. Earnest T. Ford Recreation Center is the location. 10 Pitkin is the address to the gym. Please be on time and ready for a great time. The event will last from 2pm to 5pm. We will be announced as our program, our cheerleaders will perform some cheers and we will have a skills competiton to finish up. Please identify your rides early. The gym is between Hamilton and Third on Pitkin. Call if you need assistance!

1/2/12 @ 12:50 PM - Basketball practice will resume this Wednesday @ 6:30 pm. The first game in the I.C.A.A will be this Saturday. Time is to TBA. We need players to turn in their financial commitments so everyone can get their equipment. Also, we must get everybody involved with our ESPN THE MAGAZINE fundraiser. We will lower the num ber of subscriptions down to 4. The subscriptions again are $40.00, as a program we keep $30.00 and $10.00 goes back to ESPN off each order. Please see me for your forms!!
1/10/12 - The schedule for the season is finally done! The season will open up on January 21, 2012. Galilee will open up vs. Ebenezer @ 3pm and then play Shrine @ 5pm. We are asking all coaches, players and cheerleaders to meet at the gym @ 1:30pm for preparation. Please be on time!!!!!!!!! We need everybody to fill out and turn in a church league registration form to have on file at the league office. I want to meet with all parents of players and cheerleaders on next Wednesday, January 18 @ 6:30pm @ The ACC Youth Center. We will lay the foundation for our rules and regulation for the season. Practice will be tomorrow for the boys @ 6:30pm. Some equipment has come in and I will bring to practice tomorrow.

1/22/12 @ 11:04 pm - The Galilee Crusaders defeated Ebenezer 46-22 in the season opener on yesterday. The Crusaders lost to Pleasant Grove 48-40 in their second game. The boys played hard all day and fought til the end. We will continue to get better from week to week! See everybody at practice on Wednesday @ 6:30pm.
1/31/12 @12:55 pm - Cheerleading practice will be this Friday @ 6:30pm @ Galilee. Basketball practice will be Wednesday @ 6:30pm. Gametime for this weekend is 6pm. Galilee will be playing Davison Baptist Church. Hope to see you there.
2/5/12 @ 11:36pm - Galilee defeated Davison 40-31 in yesterday's I.C.A.A basketball action. The Crusader cheerleaders represented well too! Cheerleading practice will be Monday @ 6:30pm @ Galilee. Basketball practice will be Wednesday @ 6:30pm @ ACC Youth Center. No games this Saturday. We return to action on February 18th @ 3pm.
2/14/12 @ 3:17pm - Basketball practice will convene tomorrow night @ 6:30pm. Cheerleading practice will convene Friday night @ 7pm @ ACC YOUTH CENTER. The Crusaders will play this Saturday @ 3pm vs. Hartford and 6pm vs. Ebenezer. Hope to see you there!
2/19/12 @ 4:49 pm - The Galilee Crusaders defeated Hartford Baptist Church 31-23 in their first game on Saturday in I.C.A.A action. John Phillips and Glenn Johnson Jr. played very well in the victory. In the second game, Galilee lost to Ebenezer 24-23. The boys played hard we just missed too many layups and free throws. We will get back to practice and do our best to get that corrected before next week's games. I want to send a very large hug out to our Galilee Crusader Cheerleaders for a fine job that they did on Saturday. Applause goes out to Coaches Terrell, Ross and Atkins for their time, energy and effort!
3/23/11 - This Sunday Team Unity Galilee will present our I.C.A.A. League and Playoff trophies to Pastor Chapman at the 11am service. I want all players present for this special event. Galilee has looked out for us and provided an opportunity to establish a church basketball program. Service begins at 11am. The address is 5251 E. Outer Drive (between 7 Mile and Van Dyke). To the boys if you like you can wear your black/orange jogging suit.
